BOFFO is excited to welcome Ishmael Houston-Jones to BOFFO Residency Fire Island. Ishmael is the third artist in residence of our 2021 season. From July 6 – 26, 2021 Ishmael brings his dance practice and four collaborators with him to BOFFO with plans to continue work on an improvised group performance titled TRY, mobilizing experimental improvised dance to create a queer futurist encounter where race and masculinity are destabilized so that new forms of solidarity, collaboration, and desire may emerge. He is be joined by josé e. abad, Snowflake Calvet, Keith Hennessy, and Kevin O’Connor. The group plans to activate the landscape throughout their stay, hosting workshops and dance performances across the island.
